Enriching Elina with Group Profiles
Every classroom is its own little universe—and a solid Group Profile helps Elina map that universe so she can deliver spot‑on lesson ideas, activities and feedback. In this article, we’ll walk you through two simple ways to build a Group Profile, share tips for keeping it up to date, and show you exactly how Elina uses your data to supercharge her suggestions.
Why a Group Profile Matters
- Big‑picture context: By describing your class’s interests, age range and learning goals, you give Elina the “classroom lens” she needs.
- Tailored recommendations: Elina weaves your group’s snapshot into every plan—so activities feel relevant to your students’ real lives.
- Efficiency boost: Once your Profile is complete, you can generate full Group Plans or brainstorms with one click.
Two Easy Ways to Create Your Group Profile
- Via Individual Learner Profiles (Recommended)
- When you’ve already added Learner Profiles, open Groups and click “+ Details” for a group without a Group Profile
- You can also create a new Group to start fresh.
- Select the learners you want in this group. Elina automatically pulls in each student’s interests, skills, goals and support needs.
- Click on Generate Group Profile.
- Review the auto‑generated summary and tweak any details—then save!
- Via General Group Details (Fast Setup)
- In My Groups, click “+ New Group” and choose “Quick Setup.”
- Fill in basic info:
- Group name (e.g., “Grade 2 Explorers”)
- Number of students and age range
- Core Interests (science, art, storytelling…)
- Key Competencies you’ll focus on (collaboration, counting, fine motor skills…)
- Support needs (sensory breaks, visual aids, small‑group check‑ins…)
- Hit Generate Group Profile—you’re ready to roll!
Pro Tip: You can switch back and forth—start with Quick Setup to get your Profile in place, then refine it by linking learner snapshots as you build out individual student data.
Diving into the Details
Once your Group exists, click its name to view the Group Details screen, which breaks down into tabs:
- Interests & Strengths: Capture collective passions (e.g., “loves bugs,” “enjoys building with blocks”).
- Learning Goals & Objectives: Define 2–3 big learning targets for the term (e.g., “identify community helpers,” “recognize patterns up to 20”).
- Competencies: Select or add transversal skills like critical thinking, empathy or resilience.
- Support & Inclusion Needs: Note any class‑wide accommodations—visual schedules, movement breaks, audio supports.
- Monitoring & Evaluation: Outline how you’ll measure progress (observation checklists, portfolios, quick quizzes).
Keeping Your Profile Fresh
- Weekly check‑ins: After a mini‑assessment or project, update your Group’s evaluation notes so Elina’s next plan stays on target.
- Seasonal tweaks: Change interests and goals each unit—Elina’s activity suggestions will shift with the theme.
- Iterative refinements: If you notice gaps (e.g., missing fine‑motor exercises), jump back in and add that competency.
How Elina Uses Your Group Profile
- Group Plans: When you click Create Group Plan, Elina combines your Profile data into a custom plan—activities, assessment ideas and parent notes all aligned to what you specified.
- Brainstorms & Chat Prompts: Ask “Give me three art activities for our Grade 2 Explorers focused on patterns” and Elina pulls from both the group’s interests and competencies.
- Printables & Resources: PDF worksheets, flashcards and letters to families automatically reflect your group’s theme and support needs.
Quick Start Checklist
- Pick your creation route (Learner‑based or Quick Setup).
- Fill in basic group info and save.
- Add or link learner snapshots for richer context.
- Review each tab (Interests, Goals, Competencies, Inclusion).
- Generate a test Group Plan and see Elina’s magic in action!
