Get Started with Learner Profiles

Overview

Learner Profiles in Elina enable educators to capture, track, and leverage detailed information about each learner. By maintaining individualized education plans (IEPs), educators can better understand each learner's strengths, areas for support, and progress—ultimately enriching group planning and tailored instruction.

  • Learning Strengths: Record what each learner excels at.
  • Areas for Support: Identify skills or concepts needing reinforcement.
  • Competences: Map observed abilities to framework-aligned competencies.
  • Goals & Objectives: Set and monitor personalized learning targets, including those inherited from Group Profiles.
  • Observations & Progress: Log notes with up to five media items (photos, videos, audio) per entry, linking back to relevant competences and goals.
  • Version History: Review all past changes and updates to maintain transparency and reflect on development.
  • Automated Summaries: Elina generates a concise summary of each profile at every update.



Creating and Managing Learner Profiles


1. Create a New Learner Profile

  1. Navigate to My Learners.
  2. Click Add Learner Profile.
  3. Enter the child's Nickname (First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth are optional).
  4. (Optional) Upload a profile photo.
  5. Click Save to create the profile.


2. Basic Information: Strengths, Support & Group Association

  • Learning Strengths and Areas for Support appear as text areas under the Basic Information tab—simply enter your observations.
  • Associate to a Group: If a Group Profile already exists, you can associate the learner profile to a group by selecting the desired group from the Related Groups dropdown.


3. Add Competencies

  1. Switch to the Competencies tab.
  2. Check the boxes next to each competence you want to focus on for this learner.
  3. Click Save Competencies.




4. Set Goals & Objectives

  1. Go to the Goals & Objectives tab and click on 'Add Goal' button.
  2. To add a custom goal, type it into the text field and click Add.
  3. To choose an existing goal defined in the associated Group Profile, simply choose from 'Standard Goals' list.




5. Log Observations & Progress

  1. In the Observations & Progress tab, click Add Observation to open the modal.
  2. Enter an Observation Note and describe Progress.
  3. Attach up to 5 media items (photos, videos, or audio).
  4. Within the modal, switch to the Goals and Objectives or Competencies tab to associate this observation with any relevant goal/objective or competence.
  5. Click Add Observation to record the entry.




6. Review Profile History

  1. Open a Learner Profile.
  2. Select the History & Versions tab.
  3. Browse past updates.





Enhancing Group Profiles with Learner Data

After creating Learner Profiles, return to Details page for the group to:

  • Under Selected Learners, choose the learner profiles you would like to include in the new generation of the Group Profile.

  • Regular Updates: Maintain up-to-date profiles.
  • Use Media Strategically: Photos and videos enrich context—capture key moments of learning.
  • Collaborate: Share profile summaries with colleagues or specialists for multi-disciplinary insights.
